Wikimedia Georgia Strategic Plan/2024-2026/Collaboration
Partnerships play a significant role in various aspects of the work of Wikimedia Georgia and the Georgian Community due to their benefits and contributions to the development of Wikimedia projects and Movement, locally in Georgia and globally.
We hope to share our resources, including skills, expertise, and networks, to pursue common goals with our partners. Sharing resources can lead to greater efficiency and effectiveness in achieving our goals. We also hope to gain more knowledge and assistance from our partners.
Also, partnerships facilitate strategic alliances with other organizations or individuals, allowing partners to leverage each other's strengths and resources to pursue mutually beneficial opportunities or tackle common challenges under the Wikimedia projects and Movement.
In addition to the above reasons, partnerships often foster long-term relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and shared values. These relationships can lead to more sustained future collaborations and partnerships.
Overall, partnerships drive innovation, foster collaboration, and achieve shared goals across the Wikimedia movement.
Collaboration with Wikimedia affiliates
Collaboration within Wikimedia affiliates is crucial, which enables the sharing of resources, knowledge, and best practices among different affiliates, leading to more efficient and effective projects and initiatives. By working together, we can leverage each other's strengths and expertise to address common challenges and achieve common goals within the Wikimedia Movement for the Wikimedia projects and free knowledge.
Collaboration fosters a sense of community among Wikimedia affiliates, strengthening the movement. This sense of community is essential for maintaining the vibrancy and sustainability of the Wikimedia movement over the long term.
Wikimedia Georgia actively cooperates and continues to collaborate with Wikimedia affiliations in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region (Azerbaijan, Turkey, CEE Hub), and also developing its network of partners, cooperates with affiliations in Europe (Wikimedia Sweden, Wikimedia Europe, etc.) and globally with others.
As part of the cooperation, Wikimedia Georgia already shares and will share knowledge and best practices with all its partners through various projects, programs, and channels. This allows affiliates to learn from each other's successes and failures and to improve their own operations and activities.
One of the critical fields of Wikimedia Georgia's work is advocacy. WMGE will collaborate on advocacy efforts to promote the Wikimedia movement's values and goals, such as advocating for policies that support free knowledge or defending the rights of contributors.
Overall, collaboration within Wikimedia affiliates is essential for building a strong and resilient movement that can effectively promote the creation and dissemination of free knowledge worldwide.
Collaboration with non-Wikimedia organizations
Wikimedia Georgia (WMGE) also cooperates actively with non-Wikimedia organizations. Collaboration between WMGE and non-Wikimedia organizations can be highly beneficial, as it enables Wikimedia Georgia to expand its reach, access additional resources and expertise, and foster connections with communities and institutions outside its traditional Wikimedia sphere.
Wikimedia Georgia collaborates and will continue collaboration with libraries, museums, archives (GLAM), and other cultural institutions to digitize and share their resources on Wikimedia platforms. This can help make valuable cultural, historical, and other sources more accessible to the public and enrich Wikimedia projects.
Wikimedia Georgia collaborates and will continue partnerships with educational institutions, such as schools, universities, and educational nonprofits, to promote using Wikimedia projects in education and involve students in editing Wikimedia projects. This can include organizing edit-a-thons, training, and other events for students and educators and integrating Wikimedia projects into curricula.
Wikimedia Georgia actively works on Advocacy. WMGE will continue collaborating with government agencies, advocacy organizations, and civil society groups to achieve its goals on free knowledge, digital rights, copyright, and open access issues.
Wikimedia Georgia will collaborate with different foundations, government agencies, international organizations, and other funding corps to secure financial support for Wikimedia projects and initiatives run by WMGE. This can involve grant applications, fundraising campaigns, and partnership agreements.
Collaboration with non-Wikimedia organizations can help Wikimedia Georgia achieve their goals more effectively by leveraging additional resources, expertise, and networks. It can also help promote the values of the Wikimedia movement and build bridges with diverse communities and stakeholders.
